Hey everyone, got a 99 Trooper here that I'm building a winch bumper for. Installed a 2" body lift recently and now building bumpers for it since the stock bumpers look awkward with a 2" gap.
<br />Using 2"X2" 3/16 wall thickness that I'm going to weld into the frame to slide the bumper into.
For the inserts that will be welded to the bumper I'm using 1.5"x1.5, 3/16 tubing.
Isn't a tight fit so welded plates on top to take out some play.
Using 1/4" sheet metal.

Main support of the bumper.

Mounted the winch in, perfect fit.

Welded some supports under the winch plate.

Using 4"x5/8 bolts to hold everything in place.

1/8" Sheet metal to cover up, was gonna go with tubing, but since the center turned out so bulky it would've looked odd.

It's still just tap welded.

Still gotta do some work on the sides, top, and some bar work on top.
