They are a good solution in certain situations. Like if your stuck to the frame in snow or sand or mud it can lift you enough real quick to put some sort of traction aid under you wheels to get out. For changing a tire I would trust it only if you can get a jack stand or spare tire under the frame too just in case. For repairs beyond that no I would not trust it.
If we're talking the Amazon ones for $95 no I wouldn't trust them, the arb one had better work for what it costs like $225
I like cheap stuff but thats something I wouldn't risk life or limbs on.

We had one for one "big trip" never had to use it so not much help I'm afraid. However it took up quite a lot of space and was quite heavy (didn't seem that heavy because the density is lower than that of a bottle jack. We sold it with the vehicle and now travel with two bottle jacks, which take up a lot less space, and can be stored a lot lower.
