I’ve never created a build thread before but this is the first vehicle that I’ll be doing a lot too and plan on keeping for a long time.
Don’t have a name for the rig yet, so suggestions are welcome!
I was able to pick it up a year and a half ago from a snowbird down in Naples who had only driven it 30k miles and kept it garaged during the Michigan winters. So I think I got a pretty great deal on that.
I want a rig that can get me and all my gear to some “off the beaten path” spots efficiently and have fun while I do it. Issue is, there isn’t a lot of support for this platform and even less for the 4th gen Outback. I’m finding out I’m having to do a lot of custom work on it.
But that makes it all the more unique!

VEHICLE: 2010 Subaru Outback 2.5i Premium
Upgrades/Modifications/etc:
• Hancook Dynapro ATM RF10 235/65R17 103T
• MaxTray cargo liner
• Rubber floor mats
• Fender flares (universal, I had to shape and form them)
•Apex Stingray roof basket with wind fairing
• Interior LED lighting
• Neoprene seat covers
• New bumper cover cut to fit Bash bar
• Custom steel tube “pre-runner” style bumper with skid plate
•Rallitek mud flaps
• Wheel wells chopped and rolled to allow more tire clearance and open up compression for rear tires and eliminate rubbing of front tires
-Sound System
• JL Audio e6450 amplifier
•Kenwood Excelon head unit
•10” kicker CVR subwoofer
There is more to come as I do this build. Due to my budget this build is going pretty slow but it allows me to take my time to know what I want.
Primitive Racing lift kit will be next along with a few light bars and some LED cubes for aux lighting.
I’ll probably add some wheel spacers as well since I won’t be getting lower offset wheels until this set of tires wears out and I can get wider, lower offset rims.
Since I haven’t seen many builds with an Outback of what I’m going after, when I get the chance I’ll upload pictures of things I’ve done so far and continue to do. Maybe it will inspire others to do similar.
Although tbh I probably would recommend a platform with a little bit more product support haha. Even a newer 5th gen Outback would probably be better.
