..this would be my next overlanding platform.

Iveco daily 4x4
3.0 litre direct injection diesel engine
Variable Geometry Turbo
170hp (125kW) of power
400Nm of torque from a low 1,250 rpm
Factory front, centre and rear lockers
12 high, 12 low, 4 reverse gears
2 PTO's
Tubular steel chasis
39° departure angle
48° approach angle
153° ramp angle
fording depth up to 660mm

Sooo good.

We are using these as ultralight off road fire tankers now.

So what would be your ultimate platform? Do you get these in the States?

This is a cool thread, but if money were truly no object the only thing I would do is put a Hemi in my Jeep, but that's not even necessary, it's just cool. I think, though, my ultimate platform is what I have built with my two hands and with the funds I have earned through hard work, nothing beats that feeling.

While I like the look of many of the rigs... I'd go only a little bit larger than what I have... Thinking something like this.

Alum skids, 6.4 L Hemi so I could run 37" without any problems, portal axels, I'd look at fitting a flip Pac on the back. I'd have way too much fun modifying it

If money was no object I would still build a Overland Landcruiser like I always wanted :P might just upgrade it a little bit more then I got planned now but wouldn't pick another vehicle or anything..
 
I would probably go for a Ford Excursion with a 6" lift, 38 or 40" allterrain tires, a 17000 lbs winch, custom bumpers, a few lightbars front and back, a new black leather interior, a massive stereo, no rear seats, a removable RTT and tinted windows (I'm a Ford guy)

Or maybe keep my current x and buy an earthroamer xvlt

I'd definitely go with a C-303 frame off, full custom build. God I love those things. Simple pleasures.
Have you ever drove one? I have always been curious about them. There used to be a guy that drove one around here, but I never got the chance to talk him about it, I would just see him around town but never cornered him, but it has been a few years since I have seen it.

Yes, I have driven one and it was awesome haha. It was brief and uncomfortable and slightly jarring buuuuuut… I'll take it anyway.

Yeah, I can't imagine that you could do much to make it a comfortable ride, and I know it is strange sitting in front of the steer tires.

This is my current fixation, I want one. But that will probably change in a week. I knew about these from doing research on my Excursion, it was the predecessor, The Ford Centurian Classic C350, which is basically a four door Bronco built on a F350 frame and drive train. The also had a C150 based on F150, but if you going big you might as well go heavy duty, right. My understanding is that Ford contracted this out to Centurion Vehicles, to gauge the competitive market against the Suburban.
