Ideas Needed for roof mount design

  • Guest, we will be conducting site maintenance August 4th and some downtime is expected. At this time Rally Point and the Member Map will also become an app-only feature for long-term security and stability. A few days after this maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.

I have an older ARE cap on my 1st gen Tacoma. I need to put a 200 watt Renogy solar panel and 4 Maxtrax recovery boards. I intend to use the Maxtrax pin mounts.
My issue is I need the panel to be unshaded (the highest item). I have some Z mounts on the way for the panel. In my estimation I will need to raise whatever the Z mounts will attach to 4 to 6 inches.

I looked at cargo boxes to mount the panel to the lid of and put the Maxtrax in but none are as big as the panel and I can see the kite effect ripping the whole thing off if left unlatched even once.

Wood seems like a bad plan. I found some aluminum square stock, it was very expensive but is the winner so far.

Nutshell Question: Best way to permanently raise a solar panel on top of load bars 4 to 6 inches?

Thanks
