How to set up notifications so you don’t have to constantly visit the forum for meet-ups.

Lots of people don’t have the time or want to spend the time constantly visiting the forum to stay up on meet-ups. Here’s a few hints to help out in those situations. All you’ll have to do is check your e-mail!

First step is to make sure you e-mail and locations are correct and that you are on the members map.

1. Click on your username and click on “contact details”

2. Make sure your contact e-mail is correct

3. Select “Receive an email when a new conversation request is received”

4. Now click save at the bottom of the screen

Now to make sure your location is correct.

1. Click on “Personal Details” on the left side of the screen

2. Make sure your city, state or province, and country are set correctly

3. Now click save at the bottom of the screen

Lastly, you need to make sure you are set up to be displayed on the map.

1. Next click on “Privacy” on the left hand side of the screen

2. Scroll to the bottom of the page and make sure “Mark my position on map” is selected.

3. Set the selection to “My Location Entry”

4. Now click save at the bottom of the screen

So now you are set to receive e-mails when you receive a private message such as when a Rally Point is created and invites are sent out in your area.

The next step is to locate the meet-ups that already exist and watch them so you will get e-mail updates when people post in the threads. This way you will know when there’s activity in the thread and can just click on the link in the e-mail you receive to go directly to the thread and not have to navigate through the whole forum.

Navigate back to the “Overland Bound Meetups” sub-forum. At the top of the list of threads there’s a couple options we’re interested in. If you are interested in ANY meetup, you can watch the entire sub-forum by clicking on the “Watch Forum” option. A pop-up will come up and you can select what you want to be notified of. Make sure “email” is selected at the bottom of the pop-up window before you click the “Watch Forum” button.

If you are only interested in certain regions, you can select which one you are interested in in the drop down window labeled “region” and then click the “subscribe” button to the right of it. Now you will be notified whenever there is a new thread in the region you selected.

The last step, is to subscribe to any meet-up threads you are interested in. You’ll have to search them out in the forum, but once you find them, it’s easy to set up the notification.

1. Navigate to the thread you want and enter it

2. Click on “watch thread” just above the first post on the page

3. A pop-up window will appear, click the check box next to “and receive e-mail notifications”

4. Click on “watch thread” at the bottom of the pop-up window

You’ll now receive e-mails whenever there’s a post in that thread so you will know there’s activity in that thread without having to constantly visit the forum.
