To start I have a 4Runner but it is not 4x4, how much can I do?
Welcome from Central Texas.
You can do a lot with a 4Runner, even a 2WD version. There's tons of stuff available. Just know your limits, and you will be fine.

There is alot that can be done without 4WD. In many cases its a nice to have, not a necessity. If you are in groups/caravans you can go with confidence, as someone will be able to recover you. Having good recovery gear is a good idea if traveling alone.
