Still occasionally it will open up.... there have been a couple of 10m openings this month.
Have you tried to check into one of the 10m nets around OKC? I believe W5NOR does one. K5EOK does too but that may be difficult right now.

If you aren't busy the first weekend of May you should come camping with us (OK Offroad Amateur Radio) and play on HF. A good handful of QSO Parties going on that weekend so there should be plenty of contacts to be made.

I’ve tried to listen in on the Norman one a few times but I can’t even pick that up. I’ve used a fan dipole I have in the attic and even a Wilson mag mount cb antenna also in the attic and just once I could BARELY hear someone

I've heard that there are many many nets on 28.400. I'm going to start listening to it more often and see if I can stumble into one eventually. I have very few 10m contacts for my 8 years on the air.

KG5TLZ. I got my general license and I have yet to ever talk on a Ham radio.
God I know the feeling, I have had my General since last November and still have not gotten on air... Mostly due to not much in the way of gear and due to not hearing much traffic on any repeaters in my area

its been a few years for me as well, but It's great comms for adventuring, and runnung mobile DX is a fun challenge. I once worked Greece from a mag mount antenna stuck to a pie tin with wire ground radials. I Still have yet to work the ISS so there's a challenge that still stands for me as well.
