Does OB do any group buys from vendors? For example company ABC sells winches. Could OB negotiate a better price based on a minimum number of commited members. It seems with the size of the group we should be able to make a deal.

Sorta. Yesterday Michael just announced the "Gear we use" section, where Members can buy gear that the OB #0000 rig has used, tested, and made arrangements for purchase. Look for more items in the future.

But if you are talking about members organizing group buys like on some of the other automotive forums, then, no, that's not something that you'll find here.

@Steve Thanks for posting, and for the explanation.

The "Gear We Use" section is a way for us to support companies we value, and provide information and good pricing to members. This will probably extend to gear Overland Bound Members use, in the event there is a company or product other members use that are not available in the states, or products #0000 does not use.

The qualification here is that the companies need to be willing to hold the inventory, and offer order fulfillment. Not every company is willing or prepared to do this.

I've been looking for group buys, as well. At the cost of RTTs, that would make a big difference. I know at least one RTT maker that participates in group buys (and I'm in the market for one). I also get why supporting sponsors makes sense. Are group buys specifically disallowed?
