Hi everyone,

My wife and I moved from the Netherlands to Seattle last year and have really fallen in love with the outdoors of the PNW. We've been camping out of our SUV for a while now but recently closed a deal on a 2008 LR3 (or disco 3 as I am used to) to convert into our dedicated "outdoor machine", very excited!

Any tips on shops / mechanics that can help with modifying / installing mods on the LR3 in the Seattle area is much appreciated.

Cheers,
Ties

Congrats, and welcome. The PNW is beautiful, but so is the Netherlands! We have family in Nordveik, Den Haag, Amsterdam, Utrecht and Abcoude. I wish you many wonderful adventures.

Hey @Ties,

I’mthe director for the northwest and I would like to officially welcome you to overland bound.
@Greg Eigsti is the Member Representative for the greater Seattle region. He could probably recommend a shop better than I can. You might check out the Member Map, trusted shops that are listed by members will appear there.
You might also post your question in Overland Bound By Region < North America < US Northwest < Every Thing Else US Northwest

check out Member Meetups (filter Northwest) to find events through the northwest.

Anything else I can help you with feel free to send me a direct message.

Welcome! Mule Expedition Outfitters Overland Vehicle Specialists for just about anything overland. They are out in Issaquah
Lamorna Garage -- Seattle Washington's Independent Land Rover and Range Rover Specialists for all things related to repair and maintenance Located in north Seattle on SR99. I would suggest trying to do as many of the mods as you can. It’s a great way to gain skills you might need in the future when you can’t drop it at a shop.

Thanks, I'll check those out. I'd love to do some of the mods myself (and I will!) but without a driveway and garage it is difficult to do the larger things.

Congrats and welcome! I love the Netherlands and hope to get back there soon for a visit. I live in SoCal currently, but lived in Tacoma when I was a kid. I suspect I'll eventually move back to the PNW someday. It's one of the most beautiful areas in the country. Cheers!

Ties, welcome to OB! Good to have you! Make sure to check out Rally Point for local events, it’s a great way to meet folks and get involved. We have a low key get together that happens about every couple weeks, go here for details.

My wife @Heidi is 1/2 Dutch and has family in the US and Holland. Have you been to Lynden up near the Canadian border? Beautiful Dutch inhabited rural town that is not too far away.

Private message me about working on your rig, I have some tools and a little space, maybe we could do some kind of overlanding projects day or something. I seem to have a lot of overlanding projects :)

Thanks Greg! I've read about Lynden but we haven't visited yet, we've been looking for a place to get some Dutch snacks, this sounds like the place to look haha.

Good call on those Rally Points, that certainly sounds like a great time. I am still finding my way around the app / site, so very helpful.

Te laat menneke

My Dutch is rusty, I left EU 18 years ago and I don't get many opportunities to practice LOL

Haha, I can imagine! I can count the times I've spoken Dutch in person since moving on one hand. Originally from the south of NL (ie Brabant / Limberg)? "Mennekes" certainly suggests it, I am a born and raised "Brabander" so that sounds all too familiar.

I learned NL while living/working in Brussels for a few years... Best beers ever!

Ah, yes, that makes a lot of sense. It costs an arm and a leg but I try to always keep some Duveltjes and Trappist beers in the fridge. Combined with the hagelslag from Amazon and I'll be all set.
