We had a 73 cj5, I do not remember a rear axle like that. anyone know if I have a bad memory or is this a government different axle??? I know we had rust like that.

That's a model 20 rear, isn't it? The cap is over the 2 piece axle shaft.

yep, that jeep must be newer than I thought. thanks for the information. the steering column and wheel looked a bit more normal than ours. My memory is still bad.

twice a year my father bought a case of spray white and spray black paint. I would coat that old jeep good. I knew every square inch of that old rig.
