Hey folks I am new to forums believe it or not and new to the overland adventure life. I have an FJ cruiser and want to start outfitting it for the adventures to come. I was hoping to find a company where I can trust to find what I need but dont need the top of the line elite expensive stuff, but I dont like to spend my money on junk either. Was hoping those who have gone before me to weed out the junk could point me in the right direction.
Looking for a good roof rack and roof top tent and an awning but would like to support someone in the industry where i can get all that stuff in one place from a good company. Any leads? Thanks everyone and hope to see you out there!

Look on-line in your area for what shops are available, then find some reviews about them. See how they back the products they sell from manufacturers they do business with. If they don't back them at the store level, but instead refer you to the makers Company, then I would look elsewhere. CS (customer service) is right there with price when you get down to it. A couple of dollars difference at the front end of a sale will be negated in the long run. READ< READ<RESEARCH<RESEARCH on the products that interest you. I use AMAZON reviews quite a bit to get the low-down on a myriad of products. Because they are based on real users, and not magazine or company press releases.

Welcome aboard, this is a FAST growing group, and the knowledge base is fantastic. You get awesome topics across a vast array of subjects. Check out the food section also as it has some great food ideas for when your out there :astonished: enjoying.

Welcome! I hear ya on wanting decent gear at a decent price. I agree with Desert Runner about Amazon and reading their reviews. I'll even go read consumer reports on "best tent" or whatever and then follow up reading actual use reviews on Amazon and I generally end up buying from them since I have Prime and get stuff in 2 days and their prices are usually the best. Being new to this, its easy to rush and buy things...my wife and I went pretty nuts outfitting our new camper after having used it only once...needless to say, we bought stuff we really didn't need.
You can search Overland Bound by typing something like roof top tent up in the search bar upper right screen and see posts on that item.
