Spending the next few months based out of Ocala National Forest. Looking for best trails/camping spots/places to explore in Florida/Southern Georgia
Hey, I’m new to the community and live down in south Florida for about 3 years now, I’ll be willing to meet up on a weekend to check out Ocala National Forest. Never been before I here there are some nice trails in there.

I will give ya a shout when we get down there and settled, maybe get some others together that know the area better, have a little meet up and run.

Up in the eastern panhandle, Apalachicola National Forest and Tate's Hell State Forest have a lot of interconnected roads that are not terribly challenging, but way out there. The Southeast Adventure Trail has mapped a route through (can't post links yet), plus a route from Carrabelle east across the state that is mostly unpaved. Getting the Motor Vehicle Use map from the USFS for either Apalachicola or Ocala NF will show you lots of options plus marked campsites. The Gaia app has the MVUM as an overlay, and shows campsites as well. It's getting close to hunting season, so you'll want to check what roads and areas are closed/restricted due to hunting season.

SW Ga (where I live) is primarily private land - some of the state property like WMAs has fun short-term exploration, but not a ton. There are a few longer dirt stretches in east GA (other side of the Okeefenokee), and some large Wildlife Management areas and National Wildlife Areas to explore.

Thanks for the info... after spending the summer out here riding MOAB and Colorado, I was pretty sure there wasn’t going to be much on the challenging scale there in FL.... but always have fun trying to find it.... Gaia is my go to app.... been using since beta testing.... by far my fav.... thanks for the info!

There's plenty of challenging terrain - I just don't know of multi-day trips that cover it - and it's not so much vertical rocky terrain as it is horizontal and wet (or deep sand). Water crossings, mud and sand can get particularly technical.

And I wanna see your Zook - I have wanted to play with one forever.
