The departure angle is high on this design-it always looks like the axle is a little too far back though? I’m not sure how it will feel when it’s loaded. I half half a plan th put a removal mounting on the back to take my sons crf125-that will surely add some weight to the back- do you have a build thread for your trailer?

No thread yet but will try to get that going soon...

I don't think your axle is too far back. Not much worse to tow than a tongue-light trailer. Of course keep your GVWR in mind, but I can't imagine the tongue weight on your trailer being more than a few hundred pounds.

And I can affirm your thought that putting a dirt bike hitch-hauler on the back will balance things. I did that on my first teardrop build and it worked well. Let's just pretend I did it intentionally... :)

Thanks- your affirmation is greatly appreciated-there is room to move the axle forward if needed ,but it matches the woolly bear where it is.

I thought I would have some fun with the tail lights-




they’re not very practical but they remind me of this below which has to be a good thing



i have been pricing up some pre-made locker doors-for the 5 I need I will have to spend about £3000, so I think I might make my own

got some time on the trailer-making the fridge shelf for the rear box. Going to spray it with aerosol bed liner which I have lying around unused,interested to see how it will come out

After a busy summer,I am finding some time in the dark mornings to get some more of the trailer done.
I have skinned the boxes with sheet steel- leaving gaps for the doors. I was offered a much better price on the pre made doors,so I bit the bullet-now have 5 doors ready to go in .
Next job will be getting some undercoat on to stop the rust.

Got some paint on it now-next is a test fit of all the parts-I’m thinking to use rubber spacers to isolate the boxes from the chassis

Got a riser made up-only 3 more to go and the fabrication is about done-

Ok,so it’s gone together ok-I was going to bolt the front box to the middle box,but I may just weld them together,any thoughts?
next up -
cut ply for partitions
paint the topcoat
wire the road lights
put it back together

I’ve decided to use phenolic ,it’s more expensive,but will save the time and effort of treating it. I like the finish albeit a little dark.

I have created a black hole -anything I put in will be crushed to atoms and remain in stasis for a million years before being spewed out into one of a billion alternative realities- I will meet my rocket stove in 100,000 years and get a feeling of dejavu- I will ignore it and pour a drink a roll a cigarette and play some hawkwind

I think I’m going to check the fit of the doors next and drill some holes for those,then pull it apart and spray the chassis with bed liner- looking forward to seeing how the paint looks.

I decided to put some prop stands on also







they are a bit short ,so I will have to carry some blocks-there is a longer size but these wouldn’t have fit tidy when folded on the chassis . As both sets are mounted laterally there is a bit of sway front to back ,i can see why they fit a pair facing each way now on the woolly bear.

Next job will be fitting the wings/fenders.

I had to chuckle about your stabilizers. I did an axle flip on my teardrop along with a tire upgrade that raised the trailer 5”. The stabilizers will touch the ground, but at such an atrocious angle, they don’t work well. More blocks for me.

I use some scissor jack style stabilizers, and don't seem to have this problem. Are you opposed to changing the type of stabilizers that you use? What's the distance between the bottom of the frame, and the ground?

I was thinking about putting bigger wheels and tyres on also- I’ll end up blocks 12” thick!
