Stew, boil fry, bake, roast - how many different ways of cooking in one pot?

Probably one of the most versatile pots you can buy, and even though they're heavy, they are worth their weight in gold.

Counter the downside of it's weight by using it as a storage box for some of the kitchen kit.

It's a heavy but amazing piece of gear. Biggest challenge right now is having too much food w/o a refrigerator to keep leftovers in!

My current favorite one-pot meals: Easy Jambalaya, and Thai Coconut Curry.

There are a lot of brands available out there. Any recommendations? I'll be purchasing my first, and while Lodge is inexpensive and made in the US, I've heard that other brands may be better for first timers with a Dutch Oven.

Pot cooking has always fascinated me the first time. I ever seen one was a farm i worked on as a kid the old lady cooked every thing in cast iron from kettles to cooking pots not on open fires but on a range. The pots were what we call dutch ovens she just called them pots , i have three but only use two as one is to big but i use it on my fire pit at home . My cast iron skillet is the most used piece of kit , Ive not masterd bread yet but keep trying ,

Ive puchesed cast iron kettles For years I collect them dont ask why i dont know they just remind me of the past. To heavy for back packing and even truck camping. But in my fire pit an enjoyable way off making a brew. The modern dutch oven are alot lighter than the old ones ,
Ronnie sunshines do a full kit here in the uk , and petromax do some great kit i practise in my back yard cooking on the open fire, can not beat a meat cooked in the open just finished cooking steak n eggs about half an hour a go you gussed it SKILLET
