Do you pick up Hitchhikers?

Wanted to know what people think about picking up hitchhikers on their Overland bound trips.

Even armed and if you think you are physically able to handle yourself you are still taking a chance.

To think you would always have the upper hand in any given situation is laughable. You don't know the person you let in and it could that one time you get in over your head!
 
When the family is with me, I don't. When I'm alone, I trust my gut.

I've met some interesting folks, and I've saved a guy's life. I've had to keep the windows down because they haven't showered in weeks, and I've had some good conversations.

I'm just paying it forward. When I was a GI, stationed in Germany, and totally lost, a local national picked me up and went out of his way to get me back to my post.

There is still some good in the world. It may not look and smell like I do, but it's still out there.
 
The days of giving a person a ride are in the past, just not safe anymore. I've put to much money and time into my rig to take a chance. Really don't have the room inside, always traveling with my dog and like others have posted he doesn't like giving up his seat.
