So I pulled the compressor off my '04 D2 since I'm not running air to the rear suspension. I hooked it up to a battery and it works fine. Anyone out there do any interesting projects or have ideas for this? Thanks.

Possibly wire it up with a quick disconnect on the output. That way you can air up the tires after airing down for off road travel.

Wonder how long it would take to fill a tire. If it would even do it without overheating.
