Out of curiosity, does anyone on here to some basic overlanding with BMW X1/2 or MINI Countryman? Just because even though they’re not for any hardcore off reading like my now deceased FJ *sad face*, there is a company that makes a 2.5 in lift kit and with the biggest possible wheels i can gain an extra 1-1.5 in which means i would have 10-10.5 inches ground clearance. Now i know that’s no rubicon or FJ, but what do you think? Think this could be an interesting potential idea?

I've seen the countryman lifted with all terrains, lights and roof rack and I think a front bumper. Pretty sure there are a few of the BMW's out there on the trails also. Make it work for what YOU need it to do.

Yeah... I’ve got my eye on a MINI Countryman SE All4... so my wife can drive it too for round town stuff. Tax incentives help too :P and i can’t go 8 months till my bronco comes...
 
I have a BMW X1 which I think is a good city vehicle and I would take it to fire road trails if I had to. Only thing, there is no spare. It uses run flat tires and on 18" standard rims. I've seen X5's beefed up for off-road use so I guess it's possible.

Sounds fun. I would go for a lower lift, and closer to standard wheels/tyres though. You could drive it across much of the planet with no problems, and it would be a lot easier to push...

We've driven a Suzuki Swift GT on some fairly rough roads with no problems.
