could also be because Cherokee has a history offroad and the compass seems like another liberty.

I'd argue the first gen liberty was more capable than any Jeep today not called Wrangler or Gladiator. Small, short wheelbase, and a true transfer case made them pretty damn capable with just a small lift. The current Cherokee and Grand Cherokee share as much with those that established their off-road heritage as the Liberty did. If anything the liberty had more since the first gen was still at least one solid axle.could also be because Cherokee has a history offroad and the compass seems like another liberty.

No idea, would take a compass 10 times over a newer cherokee!I am curious why there are so few compass builds and seems like a growing number of Cherokees. The have basically the same drivetrain ( Cherokee offers a larger motor but other than that almost identical it seems) and a slightly larger tire, but the compass actually has more storage capacity. The aftermarket doesn't really look at the compass as much as the Cherokee it seems. Curious what others thoughts are.

I've never really thought about the compass not having low range until this lol. that being said I havn't had the time to really test it out on any trails. I have been using my TJ for camp trails and the Compass for campgrounds lol. I have a trail or 2 I would like to try but they are about 3-4 hours away and if it doesn't make it then I am out of a camp site for the night lol.If I could only pick between those two, it would be the Cherokee for sure. For the places I go out here in the west low range is important. Locker is nice to have but I want low range.
