Combining multiple 12v compressors?

What would happen if I combined 2 different branded air compressors to one single manifold with the idea being to fill tires?

As an example, my buddy has an ARB compressor, and I have a Viair compressor. I have a manifold that will accept 2 inputs and has 4 outputs, 1 to each tire). Could I use both compressors to the single manifold, or will it damage a compressor doing this? Will it fill tires faster?

I think I’ve seen some people use that on YouTube. I think the goal of 2 pumps is to increase the air volume. The splitter still takes about the same time to fill, but a bit easier and fancier. Wow... that splitter is expensive

There was just a group buy on tacomaworld. I use it now w/ my ARB dual. I had the inde flate dual which worked well too..

Personally, I would rather have 1 compressor and a tank for the compressor to supply air to and then a separate valve to go to the tires. Since I have a 2 door JK I use a Viair and a dual valve system on my spare tire. So it is a low pressure high volume tank (about 11 gallons) and I fill the tires with a hose going to the spare tire and then out the other tire valve to the remaining tires. Seems to work pretty well for me.

The question was more about damaging systems. I see viair has 2 pump systems, usually with a tank, but am unsure If those compressors are isolated or not?

Another point posted earlier is that I can get roughly 6 Harbor Freight compressors for about the price of an ARB compressors or 2 Viair compressors which would give plenty of backup compressors (clearly an exaggeration...) so I’m wondering if multiple compressors leads to earlier failure? Or if it’s totally fine?

I have a Viair 450P that I use and love, and a home built DIY “octopus” that fills and equalizes all my tires. I’m just wondering what happens if now attach a Harbor Freight compressor, in addition to, for $70.

2 compressors reduces the workload of the system by half. It shouldn’t matter if they are a matched set or not if combined with a tank. The tank will act as an equalizer between the two. Just make sure that you set up the pressure relieve to the lower of the two compressors. Ie if compressor runs at 120 psi and compressor be runs at 90psi, then set the relief to 85-90 psi.

Neither compressor will know that the other exists. If your alternator can keep up, and there isn't any weird freaky harmonics issues with the motors. That's extremely unlikely, but you never know with chinese junk.

Those high quality splitters are priceless, if they walk the walk. Flexible, easy store hose cost extra. As does the digital guage. Well worth the cost compared to my home brewed setup. Avoid the quad versions though. Too much hose to store. Two tires at a time is easy enough.
