Driving into Idaho Springs Dec 7, curious of any open scenic 4x4 trails during this time. Will be making my way to Moab.

Most will be closed by that time. Have a look at Trailsoffroad.com for that area and watch their CO state page for status updates. There's also a good Facebook page. Look for Colorado Off-road Trail Reports.

Thank you:)

May just have to go back this spring and spend more time in Utah
There's also A LOT of areas closed right now due to wildland fires.

I'd recommend you not come before mid-June to give the best ones time to open.

Curious if anyone knows any trails for viewing old mining towns that are not affected by the fires. Im scanning maps in the meantime :)

There are a ton. Here is the ultimate guide to abandoned mining towns around CO:

All Ouray/Silverton/Telluride mountains are closed due to a decent early snow. They wont reopen until summer.
