I am thinking of getting one as I like using the regular one but I am thinking saving a bit of storage space with the collapsible silicon ones but am leery as to how long it would last before failing from extending and compacting it over time anyone use one and was this even an issue?

I have been using the non electric version for 4-5 years now with no issues. My only issue was melting with too large of a flame. But if you are using an eletric kettle you shouldn't have that issue.

I’m trying to stay light and minimal, but I saw a foldable kettle online and it got me thinking… Is it actually worth bringing for hostels or hotel stays, or just a waste of space and weight? Curious if anyone here has tried it.

We have both a collapsible non-electric and an electric one which have been great. We traded for the electric one in Mexico in 2019, we had a larger glass electric we bought for a rental but didn't want to carry it in the van. Do watch the flame if you end up with a non-electric. Our electric one is fairly small but we are able to boil enough water for a 30oz GSI press.
