Wonder if anyone has ever thought of using their CO2 tank as a fire extinguisher. Seems like it would work. Obviously you'd need a different nozzle. Maybe have it set up as an extinguisher at all times and then change out the nozzle for tire inflation?
IDK, im just spit ballin.

It does seem like it would work better than nothing in a pinch, but the lack of solid or liquid chemicals to maximize oxygen separation will limit its effectiveness in any sort of open-air environment, especially with even modest fires.

I would guess all you would need is a hose and a cone. The CO2 extinguishers we used years ago had large 10-15 lb tanks so a 10 lb air up tanks would be the same I would think. Just don't know about freezing the valve. Probably someone on the forum that has the answer to this Q.

It can be done but CO2 is not the most effective so I would not count on it as a primary. There are upsides and downsides to CO2. Personally I run Purple K extinguishers with MonoAmoniumphosphate as a backup. If your on fire it needs to be out NOW and stay out. Just my thoughts.

Purple K is a dry chemical extinguisher right? How does Purple K compare to your average dry chemical extinguisher? I've heard bad things about the corrosiveness of dry chemical extinguishers damaging components.
I've been considering the H3R Performance Halon extinguishers for my Jeep.

Purple K is dry chem BC rated and is more effective than typical bicarb or co2. It is far less corrosive than a MonoAmoniumphosphate ABC rated extinguisher. Purple K being a BC agent is best suited for flammable liquid and gas fires. I carry a 5# in both purple k BC and bog standard ABC. I like the choice. A wet water extinguisher is a great tool also but super heavy for the average overlander.
