we spend a lot of time in Arkansas and when you said chasing yellow signs while traveling and highway convenience while exploring...I immediately went to THIS yellow sign

i've seen the KOA signs most of my life and never thought to actually go to one. I read your blog and then looked up KOA sites in my area and there are a lot. surprisingly, they look pretty good...at least on the website. some are on water and even have swimming pools for guests. the prices were $50-60 a night, so a bit higher than a lot of state campgrounds, but a lot cheaper than a motel.

a few weeks ago we were in Arkansas and it was midnight and nowhere to boondock, so we pulled into a Loves on I-40. They had RV spots at the end of the parking lot that were $65 a night for 50 amp hook up and sewage. it was a freaking parking lot with traffic and no view and was $65 a night...so compared to that, KOA would be a good deal. I didn't spend the $65 at Loves, but there were 2 RVs there that did.

yeah, I guess the KOAs are pretty decent and would definitely be a good place to Basecamp. we boondock a good bit and really hate to leave our camp trailers unattended at a remote boondock site, so there are times where a campground or KOA would be good just to have a secure place to park the camp trailer while we take the truck exploring. definitely a good place to know about and have as a back up...
