I purchased a 2025 Canyon AT4X to build into a Overland rig to go along with my 2022 Power Wagon I have already built. I am using many of the ideas I had with the PW and putting them on the Canyon but in a smaller overall setup. First thing was to add all the AEV skid plates under it that the AEV edition has. It already had the good Multimatic shocks but not the hydraulic Jounce bumpers which I do not feel I need as I am not planning on jumping this anytime soon. I added tie rod end sleeves to protect the3 weakest part of the IFS. I have on order a 589 fab. front winch bumper but it is still a couple of months from production. I also took the body mounted rock sliders off and installed CBI frame mounted sliders.

After getting the underside protected I added Molle panels in the bed to carry extra fuel etc. I added a metal rollup cover over the bed for theft protection and installed Putco extreme duty bed rack with low rise cross bars for upcoming RTT. Rack is good for 1000 lbs. static, 500 lbs dynamic and 350 lbs off road dynamic capacity. The Free Spirit RTT I chose weighs 130 so it should handle everything with ease. My goal is to keep the weight below payload and low in the chassis for better handling. I can roll the metal bed cover up under the bed rack for easy access to everything. In the bed I am using covered Jet sleds that slide out easily. I did not want to use a decked drawer system as that seemed like 300 lbs of wasted weight storage. I have been using the Jet sleds for 4 years in the PW with no problem.

For electronic upgrades I added a Pecron 500 watt dc to dc charger to top off my Pecron F1000 power bank and to feed power to my electric fridge. I also added a wolf box 900 3 camera system with rear view mirror camera so I can record and see things when the RTT is on. A KIckass/ AUxbeam aux switch controller for future add ons. Once the tent was installed I installed a 200 watt Bouge RV Arch Pro flexible solar panel to the top of the tent roof to also recharge the power bank. I also upgrade the tires to a 35 inch Goodyear Duratrac RT tire with AEV wheels.
