As I continue to camp with differing groups of individuals, I find it interesting the way different people set up camp. Some go for the tasty beverage first, some food, others shelter. I know when my kids were young, I had to develop a set of priorities for them so they felt part of the process. It worked.

So what are your priorities?

Personally:

1. Chair to relax
2. Beverage
3. Cot (I do not use a tent most of the time. AZ allows many nights under the stars)
4. Food prep

  1. Tent (RTT)
  2. Chair
  3. Beverage
  4. Food
  5. Fire
  6. Bed
If the wife is present some of these are worked in parallel.
That's pretty much my routine too... Probably include an awning between 1&2, especially if it looks like raining before I get to no. 3!

1. Beverage
2. Tarp
3. Hammock
4. Camp kitchen set-up
5. Fire

If weather is not an issue, than I skip #2 and sleep under the stars. If I'm camping with my family, I substitute #2 for a tent.

1. Sleeping tent (it's pretty huge, with 2 it's easier to get the framework up)
2. Screen eating tent (also pretty big, 2 person job)
3. Once both big ones are up I then finish pegging down the sleeping tent while my wife sets up stuff inside the sleeping tent (bunk beds for the kids, etc)
4. Privacy tent and porta-potty inside it
5. run screaming into the cold lake and wash off all the sweat
6. Ice cold beer
7. Set up kitchen (wife usually sets it up by now)
8. then it's into the daily camp life.... likely getting food ready... might go for a quad ride... all depends on time...

When we find our spot to camp for the night it typically goes:
-pop the hood (an fzj80 tradition)
-grab a drink
-take a walk to scope surroundings
-pull out chairs
-tables
-cook
-open RTT
-fire

Tent first for sure. Time slips by too fast, along with the sunlight, and before you know it's past dark o'clock and all you want to do is sleep.
Kitchen based on the trip. I try to keep it simple whenever possible. Food on the fire or setup the table and stove.
Chair at the fire ring.
Cook food.
Eat in chair and BS around the fire.
Crash in the tent.

This is me! Sometimes or actually most times with out a shelter. I hate repacking in the morning.
I do too. In fact, whenever possible, I pack as much the night before. The camp kitchen all fits into a Pelican 1650 case and stores on the front of the roof rack. I'll toss it up there before going bed, strap it down in the morning and just have oatmeal for breakfast. I keep the Jet Boil in food Pelican case so it's easy to get to pack in the morning.

Not many dispersed camping areas around here and the campgrounds usually have a 4pm check-in, which means we're rolling in close to dinner time, so we prep our first night's meal ahead of time and pick up a few bundles of wood onnthe way to the campground. That leaves...

crack a beer
start fire
put up tent/bedding
crack another beer
put up awning
set up kitchen
make dinner (crack another beer)
eat dinner
cigar and more beer in front of the fire
