i have a 2010 wrangler with 225,000 km on her (just under 140,000 miles) and have had issues with carbon build-up on piston 6. i had it cleaned and want to keep it to a minimum from now on. i have heard of a blow-by oil catch can which is installed to the hose coming out of the combustion chamber and catches any oil and build up.

any thoughts on this or anyone that has installed this can pass on information?

cheers, jeff

If it's a blow by problem your only fix is going to be tear it down and put piston rings on.

The oil catch can is meant for the crankcase breathers that are returned to the intake manifold. They'll catch the oil before it gets returned to the intake valves. But be wary of the cheap ones, you need something to knock the oil out of the air, a good one will have a mesh like substance before the outlet of the can. They do work, you just have to remember it's something that's going to need emptied too
