I'm headed to Big Bear end of july with the boy to do some camping, easy-moderate trails and mess around in the lake. The campgrounds are full but it looks like dispersed camping is plentiful. Does anyone have suggestions for good places to camp or activities that must be done.

Not planning on doing anything special but people are welcome if interested.

Skyline Dr or skyline trail is always a fun time. It's basically a fire road and cruises along the top of snow summit giving you great views of the range to the south. It starts right at Bear Mtn. resort and pops out by the Alpine slides on the western side of Big Bear.

Thanks guys. The boy and I decided to go back up by Ely and do more exploring. I think we will head to Big Bear when it cools off a little.
