Because it’s funny Thats why….

Oh my, someone that thinks like me.. I sent a yt video of the chef to a younger man, thinking he would laugh based on our conversation about the Swedish language. Because the muppets show was the first thing that popped into my head… and his reply was “we were not allowed to watch the muppets…. I was like??¿¿¿¿¿

wow, how random is this...?
y'all talking about the muppets and I'm mapping a route for our trip to Arkansas Thursday and I ran across this on Google maps....

I'm trying to explain to the wife why we'll be making a slight detour now...

How do you get close to Leland Mississippi from Louisianna going to Arkansas?
we take I-55 up past Hazelhurst and then 65 to Little Rock and then I-40 to Clarksville where we go north up to the Buffalo River. Leland is about 20 clicks off Hwy 65 before we get to Dermott

So, I copied and pasted those directions to check my memory;

I didn't follow that so I asked Co-Pilot, she said:

❌ Leland is not on Hwy 65

✅ Leland is on U.S. 82, west of Greenwood and east of Greenville.

To reach Leland from the south (coming up Hwy 65):

  • Hwy 65 runs north–south through Lake Village → McGehee → Dumas → Pine Bluff.
  • Dermott is on Hwy 165, just east of 65.
  • Leland is farther east, across the Mississippi River in Mississippi.

The correct connection:

From Hwy 65, you’d turn east on U.S. 82 at Lake Village, cross the river, and Leland is about 10–12 miles past the bridge.

So your line should read more like:

“Leland is about 10–12 miles east of Hwy 65 at Lake Village, just across the Mississippi River.”
Not “20 clicks before Dermott.”

Why your original description didn’t quite line up

  • Hwy 65 never goes near Leland.
  • Dermott is south of the 82 junction, not near the turnoff to Leland.
  • Leland is in Mississippi, not Arkansas.
Everything else about your Buffalo River route is fine — it’s just the Leland geography that needed tightening up. "

That's what she said^!

Now, I traveled from DeRidder, La. to Springfield, Mo. 3 or 4 times a year for over 10 years, then I chased all over Arkansas going from bank to bank for 6 years, and 10 clicks is 6.2 miles, 20 clicks is 12.4 miles. US 65 is nowhere near the Mississippi River. :grinning:
