Any suggestions on a deep cycle battery in exchange for factory battery to last longer, more life span, and well built for Overlanding?

I replaced the stock battery in my 4Runner with an Odyssey 34R-PC1500T. It's a great battery but it required installing a voltage booster so that the stock alternator would put out enough voltage to properly charge it. I purchased one from ArcLight LED's but it's also possible to replace the fuse with a diode from GM.

I have had good luck with AGM batteries from the parts store. My TJ has been running an Autozone Duralast Platinum AGM for 5 years, my Land Cruiser has been running dual Advance Autoparts Autocraft Platinum batteries for a few years as is my wife's Outback. These batteries don't have a crazy capacity, but the capacity does meet my needs and are quite budget friendly compared to some others on the market (especially if you buy online and pick up in-store).

Bosch 94R AGM. It's 80AH which is one of the higher rating I've seen out there for the size. Also, paid 122 for it from Pep Boys because they are getting out of the Bosch brand.

I think other factors you might want to consider are what you are going to be powering with the vehicle off? Fridge, auxiliary lighting, etc.

Personally, I've been having pretty good luck with an Odssey group 31 in the oem battery position in lieu of a dual set up. I only use it to power my Dometic 75DZW. I have let it run for over 24 hours with the truck off, with no issues starting. There can definitely be concerns with that though, so I make sure to always carry a charged jump pack with me. Cost was a bit of a concern for me, which is why I chose to run a single group 31. Also, I second what Brett says about the voltage booster. You should definitely buy it now since he stops production sometimes, some of my friends have had issues trying to buy it. These deep cycles need higher voltage to meet its full service life. It's a much cheaper alternative to a high output alternator. I think I will still run a second battery down the road, just for peace of mind! Hopefully this helps, don't hesitate to shoot me a PM if you have any questions!

Here's a thread on them. Tacoma World
I saw mostly 3rd gen kits. Didn't read the thread all the way through but it may give you some ideas.
