So we have been on this road for about 3 weeks now and have just come out of Death Valley into the Bakersfield area...not realizing it's Memorial Day Weekend and there is no camping to be found. I've been on campendium and freecampsites.net without any good options.
Without back tracking up into Sequoia National Park following Kerns River, does anyone have any gopd options for free or near-free camping for the night (may 26)? We are looking at driving back up into middle or northern Sequoia tomorrow, just need a place to crash. Any ideas? Not opposed to sleeping in the 4runner but i'm not sure if the Rangers are the type to hassle...
