Backup cameras?

My Taco came with one. At first I didn't really care for it, but know I love it. I have put it to good use on a couple trails. Being a double cab long bed it comes in handy a lot.

I have had backup camera's in all cars I've driven since 2010.. Toyota kinda has them as standard now in almost all vehicles sold here. It is so easy to park on a dime with a camera.
When I get a landcruiser I so want a backup camera as well, though I fear it will be an after market one as finding a cruiser with one is kinda hard..

Definitely have a backup camera... I even put a front camera so I can see the break over points and what's just beyond them.

My Tacoma came standard with one, it's the best thing ever in tight park garages or when trying to parallel park in the city. I can use my mirrors for the most part but when I need to get as close to something as possible the camera works wonders. It also makes hooking up a trailer by myself way easier.

I really happy the new 3rd gen Taco's came with backup cams. It actually helps me on the trail.

Especially on tight cliff side stuff like this at Laurel Lakes in Mammoth. I guess people have died on this trail.

One of the final switch backs going down to the lake is pretty flippin' gnarly. I actually used the backup cam to 10 point turn it and I still banged my hitch. hah #DoubleCamLongBedLife

So I finally got around to installing the camera setup and I am very pleased with the quality of picture.
I have included some pictures of the mounting location.
The front camera I mounted on the top of the bumper in order to be able to watch my break over when out on the trail.
The rear camera is mounted to the bac k bar of my rack. If you have any interest in getting a camera system this is a great choice.

A lot of overland guys/gals don't like having a back-up camera, but I also find it so useful with my big tire carrier. Some newer Land Rover have surround cameras and invisible bonnets, which are cool, but heck no... way too much technology for me! I'm so not into gadgets.

Have you tried the front camera while your light bars are on? I'm wondering if they cause a flare on screen.

I installed a backup camera and monitor for around 30 Bucks, from Amazon. The camera is mounted on the spare tire carrier with a shelf bracket from Home Depot, and looks through my spares rim. The TV is from Amazon and came with the camera and wiring, is mounted on my overhead counsel. I will take some pics a soon as it stops raining....

Here are the results of the camera test with lightbars on and off to check for glare.
