Hi gang, my cousin is unfortunately in very poor health, and I am planning a trip from St Louis to Hendersonville NC to visit with him in the hospital. While visiting family, I’ll be in a hotel. Beyond that, I’d like to spend a few nights in the nearby National Forests, doing dispersed camping. Anyone have some recommendations and starting points for a few good tracks? I’ll be alone, so wanting to keep things fairly easy to moderate, with scenic views and good camping spots being top priority.

If you don’t have any recommendations, could I just ask for a few prayers for my cousin instead? He’s pretty bad right now.

Thanks in advance, everyone, and have a blessed day!

old NC 105 is a scenic route that is all gravel with a couple off shoots. It is easy but enjoyable. It may be a bit busy this time of year due because everyone comes to see the leaves change. Go on a weekday and you may have to place to yourself.

Brown Mountani OHV is not to far from Hendesonville. It is more technical but still pretty easy.

As well as some dispersed camping and dirt roads to check out:
