I’m I don’t know... it seams like most companies offer a mounting solution for under the hood, so I guess the best place to mount one would be under the truck as close to the catalytic converter as you can.

Yes, I have one mounted under my hood for a few years with no issues. I love where mine is located next to the windshield washer container, unfortunately I don't think the company(XFAKTR) is in business anymore. Rago Fabrication, Victory 4x4 and SDHQ make mounts.
