Adventure buggy overlander

I am strongly looking at building a full time adventure/overland buggy. Think ultimate FAV or BOV! I can design the suspension and frame to do exactly what I need it to do and fit what ever tires I want.

AWD would be awesome if you could figure out the engineering to make it work. I have a buddy that designed in CAD and built an entire tube chassis, custom a arms front and rear, etc. Powered by a passat motor (had one laying around). It's doable if you have the knowhow or the cash. It's definitely a longer term project. Coming from the sand rail world we built it around a beetle body for the nostalgia.

I've seen a few dedicated builds do well off road and even travel if you can deal with the shortcomings

Cheers for that. My motorsports expertise is SCCA, IMSA, FIA Road Racing, Autocross, Rallycross, dunebuggies, and street performance builds.

I'm building am ls powered mid engine buggy with porsche transmission. If it breaks I'll switch to a subaru transmission. With no low range is the extra weight of awd worth it? That was my question.
Should be under 2000 pounds and ls.

Project Update: This will have allot to do with where/how I end up as my time as the caregiver for a parent with ALZ concludes. Do have a 2001 Miata LS.

If this isn't for offroad just build a 7 that miata drive train will fit right in. Its even funner when you throw a Saab b202 engine in it mated to a Ford trans. If you want street legal thats a whole other can o worms

As stated in the original post this is a full time overlanding build meaning it has to go offroad.

You will not inherit any debt from your parents unless you go into it to support them. There are other options by the way. The debt will be paid by the assets if any, the probate will take awhile and will pay what it can. See a lawyer, pay the bucks to best understand you options.

I am still liking the idea of a buggy. I am considering the Exocet Offroad conversion for my 2001 Miata with the Paco Motorsports offroad suspension kit but lead times are really realy long right now. Lady friends Bronco got stolen she bought a used Fiesta ST and vintage trailer that got totaled by a speeding drunk while she was road tripping, I traded the FocusRS for a BroncoSport but this is a short term solution (see my other posts).
