I'm looking for a 4x4 camper rental (e.g. Jeep with RTT and kitchen/fridge etc.) in California, ideally LA/SD area?
Any recommendations? I found escapecampervans and cypressoverland - is that it?

Thanks for any hints and tips.

Regards,
Oliver.

Thanks, I ran across Outdoorsy, but not full clear yet how it works? AirBnB for renting out your rig, I guess.
I had checked out one but that was leading nowhere, cannot start on that date, cannot end of that date etc.
Maybe need to research them a bit more, esp. around insurance and liability.

Rented RVs in GA for 2 years. Any questions give me a shout.

Outdoorsy, rvshare, rvngo are all like Airbnb but with a huge catch. Insurance. Keep in mind that if the renter is using personal insurance and not a commercial brand like we used (MBA), in a claim event, they are most assuredly screwed and your liability goes up. Getting a rental rider on your side can help cover you and give “some” price of mind.
Just visited the East TN area and I saw a ton of companies renting Jeeps albeit without RTTs. So they are out there, just have to find them.
Best of luck!

I live in Southern California. I did a local search and came up with these. I used "California overland vehicle rental" as my search. Most of the rest of the results look like camper vans. If your not planning on going anywhere rough, Sprinter vans work very well out here. I have one in my off road group. What areas are you planning on visit? I have gps files of the popular areas out here as well as some hidden spots.

EDIT: just noticed you found cypress and was looking for LA/SD. The bottom two are those. My search results had quite a number of businesses. Most of which were LA/SD.

I was in a rally earlier this year in Baja and a couple of the participants had flown in from Lithuania and rented a Tacoma pop-up tent rig (orange truck on right) from Topoterra in the San Diego area. They just slapped some decals on the truck and bombed through the desert along with the rest of us and their vehicle was one of the few that seemingly did not have mechanical issues.
