I've owned this truck for a little over one year at this point and have racked up 30k miles so far. As it sits now, the PW is a mild build on 17" AEV salta wheels wrapped in 37" Toyo MT tires, and carrying a leer 100RCC cap with Rhino Rack pioneer platform out back. Since I'll be playing catch up on this thread, might as well start on day 1 fresh off the dealer lot...

September into October 2019-

If some of you guys are on another Expedition forum, you've seen this writeup there recently.

With about 6000 miles on the truck, I set out on a solo drive leaving from New York for Montana. My girlfriend didn't have as much time off as I did, so she was flying out from NY into Kalispell, MT. From there, we would both then head up to the Glacier National park area. This would be my second time driving West with the first being in a my last vehicle- a built Wrangler JKUR. The comfort and power of the PW was night and day from the jeep, and I put in long days to get out to MT in a hurry. As with the last trip, most of the drive cross country along i80 was uneventful and pretty boring. Rolling into the area of Livingston, MT. Big Sky Country- yup, I get it -

Montana definitely knows a thing or two about placing real estate-

Still en route to Kalispell, I took a pretty big detour about 7 miles into the backcountry to attempt a short hike to a lake that looked nice in some of my research. It was late in the day by the time I got to the trailhead, and I decided to make it an out and back drive instead. Bear country + hiking out in the dark= I’ll play it safe and skip this one -

I had an extra day to kill waiting for the flight to arrive in Kalispell, so decided to do some exploring. More google earth research paid off with this venture into the Mission Mountains. An easy dirt road drive opened up to this insanely nice lake. No one else in sight, and this is exactly what I came for -

Much more to come...

On to Glacier National Park. Unfortunately, a freak blizzard passed through and dumped about 4’ of snow on the East side of the park closing Going To The Sun Road less than halfway from where I was staying on the West side. I could only drive a short distance past Lake McDonald, so made a few trips to the lake during the visit -

The stay at GNP flew by, and soon I was heading the truck South through Montana towards Wyoming. Rolling through Paradise Valley just North of Yellowstone -

I had planned to just pass through this area and make good time to the next real destination, but Mother Nature had other plans with more snow closing the high pass through the park. Pretty inconvenient, but can't really complain with the views-

A back track and exit through the West Entrance took me into Idaho and then over finally over Teton Pass. The truck on those heavy 37's handled the pass with zero issues and temps barely climbing. Welcome to Wyoming-

Photography was a good part of this trip so the iconic locations were knocked off the list- Oxbow Bend, Mormon Row, and Schwabacher Landing. There were plenty of detours, and even more impromptu truck shots -

I was expecting/hoping to at least catch a glimpse of a bear on this trip and was striking out. At least the moose were cooperative for a couple mornings of good photography-

This area definitely deserves another drive at some point. Headed East for the 32+ hour drive home wouldn’t be complete without another dumping of snow the night before. Slow going, but more of the epic scenery and roadside stops for pics-

After a little over a couple weeks and 7000+ miles, it's good to be home but already planning the next trip...
