2018 Ford Explorer aka “Airborne”

I’m back I had to get trade “Eddie” my old 2008 Explorer in & get a new rig. But I’m back and taking on the task of making an overland rig out of an 2018 Ford Explorer. I’m hoping to install comms inside. Debating on CB or MGRS radio. Definitely doing a roof rack to expand my gear capability. Then general organization of my existing stuff.

Got my roof rack installed on the Explorer this weekend. Next weekend is the first trip with a full load out. Heading out to West Branch State Park, here in NE Ohio. I will post pictures of it fully loaded up next weekend. View attachment 110923

Went out on a 3 day overland trip out to West Branch State Park. Took the back roads out there & back. No off road but some the paved roads was pretty beat up. Used it as a dress rehearsal for our bigger trip in September. Can’t wait

To be honest I can’t remember I got it off amazon. It came on a SLOW boat from China. When it arrived it was a little bit beaten up I recommend that tho before you mount it that u use some silicone to seal up the gaps in the tubes Also I re painted mine with some spray on bed liner. It added some grip to it and looks better than it did in the original pics
