September 2017.... After looking and searching we found the rig for us, a stock 2011 FJ. Traveled 350 miles, test drove, negotiated, and took it home that night. I really intended to just drive it...maybe a front level kit..maybe..

First mod, found some used Rancho front shocks/springs ready to bolt on. Quick DIY lift that took a couple of hours. Much improved ride over stock and almost 2 inches of lift.

Almost forgot the tires.... picked up Westlake 285’s at WalMart for $124.99 each. $500 for 5 new tires is hard to pass up. So far I’m happy with the purchase.

A few pics for fun... and one of the new to me front lights. I bought the OEM switch and wiring harness complete with relay. Made installing the light wiring a breeze.

Added an ARB awning and mounted a shovel to the factory rack using quick fist attachments.

Now some attention for the rear suspension. Installed Metal Tech long travel rear springs and Pro Comp shocks. Much improved ride and a couple inches of lift.

Next up the $400 roof top tent. Another FJ guy pointed me in the direction of a company selling new RTT’s for $400. Mounted easily on the 1.75” stock rack. Pretty happy with the purchase, and it fits in the garage.....just fits[emoji3]

There are no logos or branding on the tent. I’ve heard it’s an unbranded Smittybilt tent. Looks identical to me but I haven’t seen them side by side in person. The site shows $799 but if you contact them and ask they’ll drop to $400.

Added a Ricochet Off-road air dam to help with the wind noise from the RTT. Makes a huge difference at speeds over 60 MPH.
