We leave in July, and this will be one hell of a ride with a toddler. But he has memory foam and loads of snacks so he will be fine. I will be going to see family and friends, some from my time in service, the rest at t family reunion in South Carolina. My family originates from there... i am the only native born Texan. I was going to take the RTT and do things proper... but i think it will be hotter than the devils ass crack with 3 people in the tent in july in the south... and my lil boy may not sleep. But i am all ears if anyone in these areas cares to chime in. Another strike against my RTT is that once i get to SC, TN, and NC i have places i "have to" stay... Its basic southern hospitality... they offer, you accept... end of story lol. BUT... i might can sneak a camp in from Mt. Carmel to Ft. Bragg... if you guys know any good spots.

So here is the route.

I want you guys to make suggestions, must see items, best camp/rest areas for my kiddo to get out and play etc...

If there is anything on this route that speaks to your heart then let it rip tater chip! I am looking for an excuse to detour :-) and justification to take my RTT.

Really sucks that this was planned in July... i think...not sure.

Hot is relative. I lived in NC and and TX, used to visit family in TN all the time. If your RTT has decent windows I would go with it, but I prefer warm over cold. The trick to that hospitality is "oh thanks, but I promised the boy we'd camp and the tent is already on the truck"
