So when I purchased my RTT I purposely left the mounting rails longer than the width of the tent being I didn’t know what my plans were for mounting direction or the possibility of mounting accessories off the RTT “ long rails”

Glad I did (for now) until I figure out what I want to do without the tent on. My goal is to eliminate the RTT. I’m over the RTT..... pain to climb into, pain if ya gotta pee once up in it, pain if I bring my dog with me, pain to stay warm inside, fuel mileage is more horrible are among most of the reasons.
As soon as I can fab up mounting brackets I’ll be selling the tent.

The good thing about the awning room is there is plenty of “up” left with the walls. So when I finally get a decent lift put on the Grand, the walls/floor won’t pull up off the ground.
It’s a little time consuming to set up but SO MUCH more room for activities! And my dog can stay in the “tent” with me and I wj t fall out when I have to pee. Lol

Some pics of my current setup

For weeks.......no....months! I have maybe put 15 miles on the ‘ol WJ. I haven’t given up on her. Just haven’t had any time to go camping with my new job keeping me extra busy.
I have done a couple upgrades in the last few months though. I sold the RTT and opted to use the awning and room for family trips. But 90% of the time I am solo, so I’ll continue to sleep inside. I did pick up an extra thick self inflatable pad (that I haven’t got to use yet
I removed the 2” budget boost being I still bottomed out into the wheel wells when fully loaded. I installed 4” lift springs and created a whole new can of worms with the dreaded death wobble So now I’ll be installing adjustable long arms. I got lucky and found a brand new Clayton transmission cross member from FB marketplace for fairly cheap. My friend who owns a local offroad shop has a set of Rubicon Express TJ long arms that we have cut about 2” off and we’ll re-weld the bung back in and get my caster where it needs to be. Once that’s finished I think I’ll be ready to hit the road again once work lightens up!!! I need a life break

Got some forward progress with the front long arms today. Rubicon Express TJ long arms with 2” cut out of them and welded the bung back in.
cutting the diff side “eye” off and welding in a metalcloak “builder kit” duroflex joint on. (I’m fortunate to be good friends with the Metalcloak/Cloakworks team)

Hopefully this week if it’s not 10,000 degrees in the garage so I can get these installed and proper caster set

Great to see some new progress. I wonder if there will ever be a long arm kit for my Renegade...

I can't believe I missed this thread before... great WJ, it's the right color. ;) We'll have to get a local WJ run together some day...

Got the semi custom long arms installed today. Pinion angle is at •6 degrees. May have to play with that a bit. I haven’t driven it yet but around the block, need to round up some longer UCA bolts diff side. Definitely no turning back from cutting the body side upper control arm mounts off
