Seeking info / routes for Pine Nut Mountains, N. Nevada

I’m planning a 3-4 night trip for Nov 11-15. It seems risky to plan to drive anything in Tahoe Nat’l forest this time of year (altitudes 8-9k feet), so I’m thinking the Pine Nuts Mtns may be a better bet. I can’t find any routes, if any one can help.

thanks for the great info and pics. I think the only thing that might hold us back now is smoke. Pray for Yosemite and blue skys.

Q about Barney Riley Aug 2022

Thank you for the info. from what I can tell, Slickrock seems a little too technical for my vehicle (maybe because all the YouTube videos are lifted jeeps with 37’s). I was also reading info from Overland Trail Guides who recommends trucks not try Pardoe Trail because of the longer wheel base...

Q about Barney Riley Aug 2022

I’m Plannng a trip to Barney Riley from hwy 89 (CA side) in early August and we plan to camp at the river. However, I have read several conflicting accounts about trail closures, gates being closed saying ”private property”, hot springs all dried-up, etc.. I have done the trail before, but had...

Shaver Lake or Bass Lake area - seeking advice

We are a group with 33” tires, lifted ZR2, Forerunner and Landcruiser, some from N and S. CA so hoping to meet in the middle and heading out May 17th. Seems like Fresno Cty is a good middle ground. Looking to string-together 2-3 days of wheeling and camping. We need some challenge, but Shaver...

    Need help choosing tires

Hey all, thanks for much for the great information. I can’t believe how much I agonized over this decision. I decided to go with the Grabber X3’s. You only live once! I haven’t had a chance to use them yet, but they look great. I have made some more mods to my truck and can’t wait to get...

    Need help choosing tires

Thank you. I’ll check those out. Update..I went to my tire guy today and told him I was stressing whether to go with AT’s or MT’s, and leaning toward a MT or Hybrid. He swears by Toyo (RT) - a hybrid. Says he has sold hundreds and never had one problem. They last a long time and only need...

    Need help choosing tires

I have not. I’ll take a look. Right now I’m starting to lean toward true M/T’s. Yokohama Geolander MT, KM3’s, Graber X3. Cooper ST Maxx is interesting also.

    Need help choosing tires

Hi OB community, I am hoping to get some tips on choosing tires for my 2020 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison. It came with 31” Wrangler Duratrac 4-ply tires and I will be replacing them with 33” tires as soon as possible. I like the look and feel of the M/T Wranglers and they actually perform well on...

    iKamper tents

I just found about the Roofnest Condor. It’s 48” x 60” and will fit on my short-bed rack. Other than IKamper Mini it’s the only hard top I have found that won’t hang over the back of my bed. Although still expensive, it’s priced at $3,000 vs. $3500 for Skycamp mini. Problem is there are...
