    Finding Overland Companions

I started traveling solo about 6 years ago. My wife does not come along - she's not the outdoors type. Traveling solo is mostly upside in terms of how, when and where I overland. I'm the type of person who enjoys my own company. Sometimes I change travel plans on a whim and just go -...

US East Northern VA / MD Monthly Meetups

Yes, I registered. My third time - looking forward to it. I am leaving Pennsylvania on Sunday, Oct 16th and heading south. I was planning to explore northern Georgia, eastern Tennessee Smokey Mountain region prior to the RT Rally. Any suggestions for the few days prior to RT Rally?

CQ FIELD DAY! CQ FIELD DAY! Thinking of doing an Overlanding FD in VA

I recently camped near Switzer Lake on my way back to Pennsylvania - camped alongside a creek. Fun trails and dispersed campsites. Great overlanding region.

US East CNY / WNY / Finger Lakes Coffee & Rigs - December 12/11

Hello to Upstate New York overlanders. I'm based in southeasten Pennsylvania. Next week, on June 30th, I am serving a Binghampton NY client for one day with a few free days afterwards. Can anyone share upstate NY overlanding trails, campgrounds or fun locations? My rig can handle most trails...

Finally became a member - Adirondacks, NY

Hello to New York overlanders. I'm based in southeasten Pennsylvania. Next week, on June 30th, I am serving a Binghampton NY client for one day with a few free days afterwards. Can anyone share upstate NY overlanding trails, campgrounds or fun locations? Or maybe you can share an online...

    Allegheny National Forest.

Thanks DevilDodge for the handwritten notes and for featuring the new Purple Lizard Cook Forest map. I just bought mine. In March I am heading west to Texas and Arizona again but I'll be back by June, at which time I will explore western PA. I gotta spend more time and miles east of the...

    Fridge with single battery

I run a fridge on a single 100AH lithium battery. Camper rig also has two 105W Sunflaresolar panels wired in parallel. This battery/solar setup also recharges my ebike batteries, power tool batteries and powers my laptop, audio speakers and other appliances.

    Solar Panel Open Discussion/Debate/Review

Hey jimmyjamson, regarding semi-flexible solar panels, Sunflare solar makes a 105W panel and it is excellent. These panels are expensive and they are worth it. I own two of these panels - they're glued to my camper's roof with Sikaflex 291. See links below. Sunflaresolar...

    Allegheny National Forest.

Beautiful region. I also plan to spend more time in western Pennsylvania. I paddled part of the Allegheny River a few years back and the region is gorgeous. Now that I have an e-bike I want to ride on more trails and Allegheny looks like a good location.

    gonna get this out now.

Thanks MOAK. A 400 range "should be sufficient" answer motivates me to do serious thinking about space, weight and gear. I usually travel with an ebike onboard and thankfully it probably won't needed on this Alaska trek. The absence of the ebike will free up space and weight - it weighs about...

Is the Dec 18th AOAA in PA event still on? I live in southeastern Pennsylvania. I have to ask, what and where is AOAA?

    gonna get this out now.

Yes, I am interested. My vehicle's range, with 5 gallons in exterior fuel containers, is only about 325 miles. More interior/exterior fuel containers could bring this up to about 400 miles. An in-person meeting would help so we could compare our rigs, discuss gear options and make a "to do"...

    Overland Expo East 2021

It was a good Expo, but not great. The best part are the other campers with whom ideas are shared and stories are told. I brought a portable fire pit and this resulted in a nightly gathering of nearby campers. Everyone loves talking about their gear. The food was mediocre at best and I...

Kofa was a fun time. Good weather. Gets windy sometimes - nothing I can't handle. I was in Arizona for 5 weeks - lots to see and do.
