Come towards Chama on 64. Hopewell is a nice spot within the Carson. FR91 is great to explore and you can find your way to Kiowa lookout, that’s always a treasure. The acting dept. Forest Sup’s husband manages a ranch out here and above it on the CO side is the headwaters of the Rio Chama

    New tire recommendations

I run KM3’s on my work truck (3’rd set) and I love them as they have helped me avoid some sticky situations. My co worker has the Duratrac’s on his and they have performed comparably well. Both are F-150’s and we hit some moderate trails and two tracks when responding to fires or on old logging...

The Carson and Rio Grande NF has been fairly cool to the touch. Not much happening anywhere per se but if you make it happen you’ll have a blast. The Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad is operating only from the Colorado side and not out of Chama, but 11,000’ elevation does bring respite to the...

Please stay safe everyone. Be hard on the people who don’t take this seriously and not the governor who has to make tough and oftentimes unpopular decisions to ensure people comply. Let’s keep NM from spiking. State employees have families too.

Sorry I missed the trip. Look for the Kiowa Lookout when you do that route again. It's worth the extra time. 36.587081 x -106.117781 will get you to the turnoff towards the lookout.

Last Minute Trip: Alpine Loop & Black Bear Pass

JDGreens-Wow thanks for such great detail! Really, I do appreciate it. Unfortunately my wife is a little of BB pass. I'll have to bring a friend/spotter to do that. We did Imogene when the FJ was stock and since we've got OME suspension and always ready with a Tepui Autana. Your version sounds...

BINGO! That's exactly the idea! Ending up in Ouray on Monday when the crowds have disbursed. Not sure if we are hitting the rally point in Alamosa the following weekend but sounds like it will be fun too.

Last Minute Trip: Alpine Loop & Black Bear Pass

Got a question for ya all. Can you camp (boondock) along the Alpine loop. Going for Labor Day weekend and the lodging options are gone. Which would only be to accommodate the first night.

Welcome to the group discussion. Great rig, is it the power wagon? Great roads up here on the Carson NF south of Chama near Canjilon.

    Portable Grill Recommendations

I ran with the Cabela's portable table top grill when I went to Yellowstone last year. It was great, fit on the roof rack perfectly, but the only problem was the grease would drip onto the truck during hot days. I conveniently had a used a beer box to help contain the grease but I still didn't...
