An app like Gaia GPS with the Roads and Trails layer would help. Local forest road maps as well. Once you get off of anything that says Passenger Car Friendly it will vary a great deal. It will vary by the weather conditions. Sometimes if solo you just have to get out and walk to see if...

The OB app has trails. Someone that uses it more than me could give better guidance
Onx App has trails (They generally use the MVUM data from the gov for trail data)
Gaia GPS - Also has MVUM and USFS Roads and trails
My vote as suggested by others would be to get an iPad with LTE. I have never had an issue using the internal GPS that you get with the iPad. I have 3 different iPads for a variety of reasons. Work, play, drone... blah blah blah...
On a side note for those that don't want to tether or need a...
While I am sure you are having an issue you can’t say the FAQ is wrong. Thousands of people use a setup similar to yours without issue.
You might also try an app like this to see what it says, GPS Diagnostic: Satellite Test
In the Garmin App can you see your proper location? Make sure wifi is off because devices can triangulate general locations via wifi. What about Apple Maps or Google Maps? I no longer pair with a BT GPS but in the past, my Mini worked fine.
Rigd Hitch Mount Spare Tire Carrier. This has worked well for me for over 1.5 years. As others have mentioned a 33” tire may fit underneath. Mine did but I hate that location.
Just wondering if folks have been using the new Overland Layer in Gaia GPS yet? I along with another fine gentleman helped with the design. I find it most useful if you use this layer along with the USFS Roads and Trails hidden underneath. Then you can get all of the trail/track data when you...
Doors are different. Older models have standard RV doors, heater will be on the roof vs side if it has that option, one less door inside of the trailer, probably minor electrical differences. That’s about it. The differences are fairly minor.
Sorry folks I have been taking lots of time off from Overlanding sadly.. Whether you have a track, route, or waypoint, it should sync. I would submit a support ticket. If you are in a pinch and have to get the item on your device ASAP I would simply export the route as a GPX track and then...
Depending on how old your layers are I would start over. You would need to delete the map layers on your old device first, then sync, then sync the new device. Any time you switch devices the biggest pain is re-downloading map layers. They take forever, your device needs to be on, screen on, and...
I wouldn’t give up my portable InReach regardless of any new gadget Garmin offers. While it is in my vehicle 90% of the time when I am out hiking etc it goes with me. I wouldn’t want to lose the portability of a nice safety device.
ARB kit is fine. It has a fuse built-in. Clip the ends on your fridge cable and the ARB kit. Add SAE connectors. They work better. You can get fancier with a fuse block, etc as required.
Late 2019 Owner, used to work for OGT part-time, used to be on Facebook, used to probably something else... :)
Longest I have owned any of my off-road trailers. That probably says something.
You would have to lobby Apple for that. The general take from Apple is CarPlay is for when driving your vehicle. Therefore it will have limited function. They don’t want you staring down at your radio making lots of changes. Worst case add functionality that requires you to not be moving. Plenty...
For those that don't get the Gaia GPS email blasts Android Auto was just updated. Pretty nice upgrades. You can start and stop a track, add a waypoint, tilt the map, and a few other things. While I am still an iOS guy it is great Gaia added a few things to the Android app! These things may not...
I think this was in Dec 2017. We had no issues other than running out of daylight at the end in the worst spot (the waterfall section) Oh well. We survived without any issues. Just a PIA with flashlights.
I wouldn't do it solo unless you have some sort of Sat comm device. Lots of people travel...
