    What is the one spice

I usually use Anduoille sausage if at all possible in my low country boil. If just crab or shrimp (or if broiling fish), it's the crab boil seasoning.

    What is the one spice

Since I last posted on this thread, I started making my own sort of Adobo seasoning. God knows what it actually has in it on any given trip other than salt, pepper, garlic powder, and some kind of chili. The latest batch has some turmeric in it for some odd reason (color, more than anything)...

New to the group. What’s good in Florida?

We live in SW GA too (further north than you do), and have a house on Bald Point. I've done a ton of day tripping in the Apalachicola NF/Tate's Hell and the various WMAs further east, in the big bend. My wife isn't big into overnighting when we have a beach house to go back to, so I mostly...

DIY Budget friendly disc cooker and stand

I'm curious why you didn't use the original leg set up on the Bayou Campfire Griddle ('discada') - maybe just slip the EMT on the original legs? Did you not like the footprint, was it too tippy, or ??

    My Quest for Tablet Navigation

Didn't try with FF - pretty much exclusively use Chrome (on android and on Windoze), but I've never had those issues, and have been using Gaia since August. I plan mine on the desktop using the web site, download with my phone.

    My Quest for Tablet Navigation

Maybe I'm not pushing it to its limits, maybe it works better with east coast maps/cell coverage, or maybe it's different with free vs. subscriber, but I haven't had any problems I can think of - what did you experience?

How to make a killer fire kit

One more thing - get a good refillable lighter for your kit (used to say Zippo, but there are other options now - I have a "waterproof/windproof" butane cigar lighter). Waterproof it with ranger bands if you don't get a waterproof (ish) one. The main reason to put the band on a zippo is the...

    My Quest for Tablet Navigation

Interested in what you end up with - my 8 year old Android tablet has so little RAM I've been trying to use my phone for nav - that isn't working with my 56 year old eyes, unless I'm not the one driving :)

How to make a killer fire kit

Great kits. My advice: practice with them. Once a month, in cold, rainy, whatever conditions. As a primitive skills instructor, I have seen a lot of people who have great equipment but have not practiced enough to not give up or freak out when the first spark didn't immediately burst into...

Please allow me to introduce myself...

I was actually reading your post because of the titl6, about to reply with the next line of the song, but your opening was much better. Welcome to OB!!!

    What color Trasharoo?

Glad you posted the pic of the Digital camo version. My wife has an Amazon gift card to use up, and asked me what color I wanted. I was leaning towards that. Think I will go tan.

    Coffee Set Ups

I used to hate using a french press - I could never get it right, so it either came out too weak or too strong. A friend (who works for a fair trade importer) said it was how I was doing it - dumping in what I thought was a normal amount, pouring the water over, waiting a while. He said google...

    Overlanding cook books

The book that got me into better than Mountain House freeze dried in the early 80s was The Hungry Hiker's book of good cooking by Gretchen McHugh. Just bought copies for my grown sons for Christmas.

    bbq?

Do you mean a grill? I bring a grate to use over a fire, or if there is a ban on open fires, a little portable thing and some lump charcoal. If I were to bring a BBQ, that would mean having a whole hog, tater salad, cole slaw, beans, and lots of sauce.

    Coffee Set Ups

I'd order one now (since it's free shipping) rather than look for it if I was going to be home when it got here. Hopefully I'll be lost somewhere in Tate's Hell state forest by Dec 27..... Edited to add -- and I wish I'd had those little butane cannister feet 20 years ago...or even now.

    Coffee Set Ups

I'll have to look for one of the silicone pour-over funnel things around here; that sounds like a good solution. There are some on Amazon for less than $10. I've carried my lexan press or skipped coffee when backpacking, but tea just doesn't have enough caffeine. Don't know how people survive...

Maybe not a review but an observation of Tire Pressure Gauges

On my Ranger, it's about 3 or 4# less (or more!!) than what it considers ideal. That is NOT enough - normal summer driving will make it go off sometimes. TBH, not sure what it is on the Disco - I know it's gone off when I've dropped down into the upper teens on purpose, but haven't messed with...

    Krazy Beaver Super Shovel

I have spent a LOT of time digging. I hunt with terriers. I don't like plastic D handles on my shovels or spades. I'd rather have a T handle or a metal D with a wood insert. If I'm going to spend that kind of money, I want an english rabbiting spade like one of the Bulldogs, or a Bulldog...

Maybe not a review but an observation of Tire Pressure Gauges

So - what do you guys do when your ideal on road psi kicks off the low pressure indicator on your vehicle? I absolutely hate idiot lights blinking on my dash... For that matter, how do you handle it when you air down?

    Side dish

Sounds good, and simple. If a shorter trip, you could pre-cook the yucca. If worst case, dig your own yucca :)
