SO good! Will probably take me a couple weeks to get to the trip report, but we managed to find about 400mi of seldom-traveled roads and ran into some solid technical terrain. Quick photo hit on Instagram:
Ding! First group email has gone out to folks that committed.
Still room for more if anyone want to come - three rigs for sure, two more tentative.
Let me know before June 8, otherwise we'll see you on the curb when we get back!
Hey @RandyB looking forward to it! Looks like a great rig.
For meal planning, it's more like you take a couple assigned group meals and it's up to you what you make for everybody. That way everybody gets to experience the fun and creativity of eachother's trail favorites.
I'm not sure I've been around one of those trailers but I can't see a problem. Trip dates are up but it's starting on a Thursday - if Friday is all you've got you can probably catch us in Christmas Valley that morning. I'm reconfiguring the trip to fit in four days so I'm planning to push Day 1...
Okay everybody! Sorry for the long delay on this - we've been moving back to Idaho and buying a house, so my attention has been elsewhere for a few weeks. Big news though, final trip dates are set. I'll add the below to the original post. One question: has anyone done the rally point thing on...
Okay, so the increasing likelihood of being stopped by gates has prompted me to go Premium with my Gaia membership. Pretty good deal at $128 for 5yrs. Now I can overlay MVUM, topo, satellite, and property boundaries. Should help immensely.
In other news, I am buying a house and closing end of...
Thanks for these. On the road south of Derrick Cave, any idea if the 4WD powerline route is open?
Alternatively, it looks like a short detour to the East and South. Have you taken this? We need to get South pretty quickly if Crack in the Ground is going to be on-route.
Fields and Alvord Hot...
Bought these bulbs last year to tide me over while I figured out how to do a projector upgrade on my rig. Having successfully completed that, I hate to see these go to waste. They work great, super bright. You can check out all the Amazon reviews here:

Hi folks,
I'm planning a 3-5 day trip into the wastelands of SE Oregon. Having done OBDR Route 4 last year and dabbled with a few routes in the meantime, I've got a few goals in mind for this trip:
Maximize off-road/dirt time, even if it's obviously less efficient than paved routes.
Bias...
Hey George, moving back to Idaho (Moscow) in the next few weeks and grandma lives in Boise - PERFECT way to offload the kiddos for an adventure. Saw the Mordor trip on ExPo and you've been on my mind since. Subscribed to this thread!
Hey all! I'm excited to join up with such an active community of overlanders. I'm currently Portland-based and began my overlanding journey last year when I bought my 2001 Toyota Tacoma DC. Great rig and I've found it to be extremely capable, though it could use lockers. OME lift, KO2s, ARB/Warn...
This is a great trip. I did it last year with a friend and wrote a trip report over on Expedition Portal if any of you want to get your stoke on: http://forum.expeditionportal.com/threads/176159-OBDR-Route-4-Sisters-to-Seneca
I will say though that when we went it was easy, peasy. A stock...
