So far this is what I am using. I used flush mount tie downs in the bed. Have worked very well. It’s a great system. Just need a rack and RTT and I am set lol
Vehicles Utilized:
Myself- 1990 Jeep Comanche with 3.5 inch lift and 33s, locker in front dana 30 and ford 8.8 with limited slip in rear
Paul-2012 Toyota Tundra with 35s and 3 inch lift (maybe a little taller)
Brother- stock 2016 jeep wrangler sport with 33s, no lift or lockers
Pros...
I have a chance to get a decent deal on the small ARB air compressor. I know it’s not really meant to inflate tires, mainly designed for the ARB lockers. However, would adding in an external tank allow me to use the small compressor for airing up tires (33s). Thanks in advance.
That would be the 2000-2001 and I have never heard of them warping. I have heard of the manifold cracking. I would trust an XJ though. I know many many people who drive them 250,000 miles+ no problem. The trans is supe reliable if you stay with the AW4 transmission. Not saying the Toyota isn’t...
Very Cool, that's awesome that you still have your old toolbox. I have had my craftsman that about 10 years old. lol. I will give Blue Ridge a visit. thanks!
So I have been working on a 90 Comanche for some time. Took a 2wd and swapped it to a 4wd. Now that I’m finally have the swap complete I now get to do the fun stuff which figuring out the storage in the bed. I think I know how I want to set it up however, was wanting to see what members have...
You could also look at the Jeep XJ. for your budget you could find a very nice 97+ model. They are reliable, easy to work on, huge aftermarket scene for it and parts a available anywhere. I feel like it checks the box for almost every situation. I have a 90 Jeep Comanche truck that had 90K on it...
Hey gang, getting my 90 Comanche ready to hit the trails. looking into getting a storage trunk or 2 for the beds. wondering what brand is the best bang for buck. Wolfpack/Plano... any others? thanks
You could check out POR15 top coat. stuff is rock solid and will last a long time. can get a roll on or spray can, oh and its UV protected. POR15 stuff last forever.
We are planning on doing it April 5th-7th. Possible getting late that Wednesday so that we can get up at a decent time and hit the trails. I have a meeting with the couple guys who will be convoying down from Kokomo on Thursday. Will keep everyone updated for sure.
I am interested in your opinion of the offroad boar extraction ramps. they are much cheaper then the maxtrax. I have also looked into the Smittybilt brand as well. they are around 135$.
