    Let them eat SPAM!

I've tried using the can for musubi. It works, but its difficult to cut the can cleanly. I bought a mold on amazon for about $5, 100% worth it. Works well for salmon patties and crab cakes as well, if you don't mind the non traditional shape.

    Any Fellow Michigander?

Welcome! I grew up & went to high school in Whitehall, currently living in Norton Shores. I'd definitely be interested in anything you've got planned in the area; please keep us posted. Also do a search for Michigan Overland on your preferred social platform, those tend to be a lot more...

When does cost of a vehicle to build matter to you?

I was going to write a big, long post about how there are lots of variables, and it depends on how well the older vehicle has been taken care of, whether you are full time or a weekend warrior, your finances, etc... but ultimately it boils down to whether you value your money more than your...

    IPad Mounts

They come like that; its a special ball meant for mounting to the handlebar risers on a motorcycle. They're predrilled and include 3 different length M8 SHCS for mounting. Part no is RAM-B-367U.

    Benchmark Atlas

Blue Ridge Overland Gear makes a "Trip Planning Bag" for just such a purpose. Its not cheap, but they have a reputation for quality gear, so maybe it's worth it. Hopefully the video link works in the app:

    Overland Expo West 2019

Sorry for the tardy reply; I haven't been on the forum in a bit. Skullman, I don't have any specifics yet other than what I put in the initial post. We're more-or-less winging it, unless we end up making plans with anyone else to meet up along the way or convoy down/back. 8th / 22nd are our...

    Any Fellow Michigander?

Just posted a poll in the Meetups Forum for a possible Meet and Greet before the end of the year in the Grand Rapids area. Trying to get a feel for what day/time works best for everyone. If you're interested, please respond. I'll setup a rally point with more details once I have a better idea...

    West Michigan Fall Meetup

Anybody interested in getting together for a coffee/drinks/meal GTG in the next few weeks? I'm pretty booked up for October, but can likely make something happen for November or December. It's been almost a year since we did the last one, so this is long overdue. Thinking Coffee or drinks and...

    West Michigan Meet & Greet - 01/27/2018

I'm down... I had meant to put something together for the summer, but never got around to it for a variety of reasons. I'll post up another thread to start a fresh discussion.

    Silver Lake Michigan

@Rred - try posting up in the officially unofficial Michigan Overlanders, you'll probably get better response there. @Recon32 - the ORV area at Silver Lake State Park closes October 31st, so you'll have to move your plans up if you want to make it onto the dunes this season. Silver Lake is...

How do you fund your expeditions?

This: and this: When I was pretty young, up thru my mid-20s, I was one of those typical kids who you hear complaining that "there's nothing to do" because I lived in a relatively small town. I joined the Marines, spent a decade away, then moved back to the same general area, though I'm in a...

    Overland bound motorcycle group?

Call me crazy, but one of my favorite times to ride is in the rain, primarily because of the smells; that ozone-y, earthy scent (properly called petrichor) is one of my favorite smells.

    Any Fellow Michigander?

This is what I had started doing until the monkey wrench went into my plans. Not sure where you're starting from, so that will potentially affect your route, but what I did was download all of the ORV routes from the DNR website (Side note: if you use the Chrome browser the "Batch Link...

    Any Fellow Michigander?

I intend to try to make it up, but if I am able to get away to go I won't be headed up until Thursday, so it will be a haul-ass kind of trip for me. If anyone else is doing the same I'd be happy to convoy, but I won't be able to take any extra time before/after due to some critical work...
