Yes there has been. Nothing fancy as of yet. Lots of simple busy work and unfortunately rust repair. The winch mount will probably be the next big project I tackle on the truck. That I will document on here while I do it. The little busy work not so much.

So quick update. All that's been going on lately is a good round of basic servicing and some rough planning on a winch mount and some fender protection. I will be fabbing up a mount like this one. Its simple, I like the look and it's a reasonable option for a truck that doesn't have much in...
Funny, my original estimate was an inch. Not sure what I'm going to use for material yet. But out of common sense it'll probably be DOM tubing.

I'm in the process of building my truck and I'm now looking at my front bumper. I plan on mounting a winch to the bumper/grille guard like this as I has a nearly identical truck.
But while I'm at it I'd like to build some fender bars like these for just a little added tree and animal...
If that 700r4 is from a V6 it may not work. Most GM V6 engines used a 60 deg bell housing vs the 90 deg v8 bell housing, they're not interchangeable and won't bolt up to the other.
It all depends on how you want to use the truck. If you're driving long distance, often. I would suggest either an automatic or manual with overdrive. I'd personally stay away from the 700r4 and go either 4l60 or 4l80. The NV4500 is a decent transmission. In more local overdrive is not an issue...
Another thing to consider at least with 12V saws and tools. Is that you can make up an adapter out of an old battery and power them straight front your vehicles battery or AUX battery. The military actually did this with some of their field maintenance trucks and used dedicated 24V electric...
Thanks, but as for the gearing. I'll gladly take the 3.08s for now. My immediate plans for the truck call for tires no larger than 33" and possibly an upgrade in gearing to 3.42-3.55s. With the M1008 I had in the past. Even with 36" tires 60mph was pushing it. I took a trip to Haspin Acres in...
So after a lot of talk. My wife and I have finally decided to starts seeing the country in the Blazer. This will be a long term build. In the trucks immediate future it will be seeing, a winch, a custom full length roof rack and possibly a snorkel. Everything else will be on a as needed basis...
